Proposed Municipal Infrastructure Improvements

Municipal Class Environmental Assessment

Notice of Study Commencement and Public Information Centre NO.1

The Town of Tecumseh is completing a Secondary Plan for the southerly and westerly portions of the Tecumseh Hamlet to guide the long term design and development of this area. The Tecumseh Hamlet is located south of County Road 22 and is generally delineated by County Road 19/Manning Road to the east, County Road 42 to the south and Banwell Road to the west. The Tecumseh Hamlet includes large undeveloped lands, natural heritage landscapes, low density residential neighbourhoods, commercial nodes and various neighbourhood amenities. The secondary planning process provides a strategic opportunity for the Town to create a long-term vision of the Tecumseh Hamlet based on the principles of complete community planning with strong urban design. The Secondary Plan will address the integration of existing and new development, land use distribution, and related infrastructure requirements.

As part of the Secondary Plan study, the Town has retained Dillon Consulting Limited to complete the Class Environmental Assessment (EA) requirements for the water, wastewater, stormwater and transportation infrastructure that will be required to service the Tecumseh Hamlet Secondary Plan Area. The Class EA for these infrastructure requirements is being integrated with the Secondary Planning process, as provided for the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in 2007 & 2011)

The Town of Tecumseh invites you to attend Public Information Centre No.1 under the Municipal Class EA process, which is being held in conjunction with the Tecumseh Hamlet Secondary Plan Open House, as follows:

Location: Tecumseh Town Hall at 917 Lesperance Road
Date: Thursday, June 21,2012
Time: from 6 to 9 pm

Information on the infrastructure requirements, alternatives being considered and an overview of the Class EA process will be presented at this time for public and agency input. The recommended water, wastewater and stormwater servicing strategy, as well as the road network will be presented at a second public meeting, which is currently planned for later in 2012. Public notification of the next meeting will be provided through the local media.

There is an opportunity anytime during this project for interested people to examine outstanding issues and bring concerns to the attention of the project team . Information gathered will be used in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of public record.
